…as FC Wangu Mazodze win friendly tie

Former Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants, Masvingo United football club (FC), kept their hopes for promotion into the topflight league alive after registering an emphatic win last weekend.
Una Una as Masvingo United is affectionately known thumbed Eastern Region Division One debutants Zaka Academy 4-0 at Mucheke Stadium on Sunday.
The team which was coming from a controversial one nil loss at the hands of Mutare City displayed quality football as they taught the new boys a lesson with some lovely play throughout the match.
Una Una head coach, Faustino Mugeji told Centre Sport that their target still remains PSL promotion and pledged that they will put extra effort to make sure they live up to expectations.
“The boys played a good game against Zaka Academy and we managed to collect three points. As for PSL promotion I am confident that we are also contenders for the sole ticket because we have a game in hand and that alone is a major boost for us,” said Mugeji.
The Busmen as the team is also known, seat on fourth position with 23 points from 12 games and one game in hand.
Meanwhile, another Masvingo based team, FC Wangu Mazodze were awarded three points after a walk over past Nzuma Bar who have chickened out of the league.
Kingdom’s Boys as they are popularly known, however, played a friendly match away to Flesk FC a social soccer team on Saturday and won 6-3.
In their next fixture, FC Wangu Mazodze face a stern test away to former PSL side Buffaloes FC who occupy seventh position on log standings and are nursing wounds of a two nil defeat by Ruwa ProGroup.
Una Una are billed to play away to JM Busha 54 FC who were dismissed 3-1 by second bottom placed Manica Diamonds Juniors FC in their first win of the season.
They will also face Northern Region D1 giants Simba Bhora in an Independence Cup match at Mucheke Stadium on 18 April.
