AMBITIOUS Masvingo-based side, FC Wangu Mazodze are targeting to dislodge Eastern Region Soccer League (ERSL) log leaders Tenax CS FC when they clash at Mucheke stadium, Sunday.

The Kingdom Boys as FC Wangu Mazodze is affectionately known are one point behind the ZPCS bankrolled side that is aiming for a quick return to topflight football after being relegated at the end of last season.

However, the high riding George Magariro coached side has vowed to give to all to upset the dreams of Chaya Chikara, as Tenax is fondly known.

FC Wangu Mazodze spokesperson, Sukuolulhe Ndolovhu, told Centre News that after 90 minutes on Sunday they will be sitting on the summit of the ERSL log.

“The Kingdom Boys have been training intensively and this is a must win match for us. We are reclaiming first position, the technical team has been preparing for this match for a long time now so a win is guaranteed. This game is bigger than a derby, we are facing log leaders,” said Ndlovhu.

The Kingdom Boys were log leaders for nine weeks before being dislodged by Tenax.

However, the two sides will meet this Sunday in what is expected to be a thriller.

Tenax head coach, Luke Petros said they are approaching the game with caution but targeting maximum points.

“As you know, we are playing a very good side. They will have home advantage but we will seek to claim maximum points, we want to get something at the end of the day,” said Petros.

Tenax lead the standings with 28 points from 12 outings while Mazodze has 27 from the same number of games.
