The City of Masvingo has with effect from August 1, 2023, appointed Simbarashe Mandishona as substantive Director of Housing and Social Services, Centre News can reveal.

 Mandishona was Acting Director replacing Levison Nzvura who retired last year.

This was confirmed by Masvingo Mayor, Collen Maboke.

“I can confirm that Simbarashe Mandishona has now been appointed substantive Director of Housing and Social Services. We know he is capable and experienced in that field so we bank on his vast knowledge and we are confident he will help the local authority and City of Masvingo at large,” said Maboke.

Masvingo United Residents and Ratepayers Alliance (MURRA) Director, Anoziva Muguti congratulated Mandishona on his appointment and said they look forward to a good working relationship.

“We congratulate him on his appointment as substantive Director and look forward to a healthy and fruitful working relationship that will benefit residents,” said Muguti.

Mandishona comes with a wealth of experience in local governance. He has worked for Marondera Municipality as deputy Director of Housing, Runde Rural District Council that incorporates Zvishavane town as a Planner in the past and Kwekwe briefly as assistant city planner.

Before his recent appointment, Mandishona was the Deputy Housing Director from 2011 till May 2022 before taking up the Director of Housing and Social Services role on an acting basis.

He holds a Master of Science degree in Strategic Management from the Chinhoyi University of Technology, and a BSc in Rural and Urban Planning from the University of Zimbabwe among other tertiary qualifications.
