A Masvingo budding tennis ace, Ropafadzo Muyedzengwa who is in top form is appealing for sponsorship to propel her career as she continues shining in the field of play.
Despite having started playing tennis in 2022, the youngster has shown great exploits in less than two years.
The 11-year-old seed who attends Hellen McGhie Primary School has been experiencing a purple patch in her career winning various medals at different tournaments.
Ropafadzo has 10 medals to her name; three gold medals, six silver medals, and one bronze medal.
However, Ropafadzo is struggling to meet training costs and to attend some tournaments.
Ropafadzo’s mother, Mercy Mangwanda, appealed to the corporate world to help her foot bills for tournaments and practice which she said was weighing heavily against her.
“I am appealing to the corporate world and those that have a keen interest in tennis to chip in with any kind of assistance. Participating at tournaments comes with some costs and I am trying my best to cater for her sporting needs but I would be glad if I find assistance,” said
She also revealed that her daughter has shown passion and commitment to the sport and dreams of playing for the national team.
“She has passion and is talented in the sport. If she continues practicing consistently, she will excel. Her biggest dream is to play for the national team and raise her country’s flag high,” she added.
Some of the tournaments Ropafadzo has participated in include; the Mantas Junior Open, Simon Muzenda, Zim Closed and Inter Provincial Tournament, and the Masvingo Junior Open.
